Bingo?
The Basics
Bingo is won by having a lot of luck like other gambling games, the slot machines and lottery. Gambling players would purchase a bingo card or cards, and these cards would have 5x5 number grid. Players would need to much the numbers in their card or cards with the ones being drawn and called. Some times they need to fill the whole card, other times, they have to form a certain pattern.
If they are successful, they should either shout out Bingo or shout the name of the pattern they were forming. In events where there is a screen which shows the number that are drawn, the gambling winner may not shout Bingo or the pattern’s name while the number has not been called yet. He or she must wait until the number has been called before shouting.
Gambling players of bingo may choose to play a single Bingo card or more than one Bingo cards. However, the gambling player who chooses to play multiple Bingo cards must have the talent of being able to mark all of his bingo cards quickly. Some gambling players have been very good in marking their Bingo Cards that they do not have any problem playing fifty cards at a time.
Bingo as a fund Raiser
This gambling game has supposedly originated from Italy. Its ancestor, another gambling game, is the lottery. Like lottery, Bingo had been used and still is used to generate funds for charity works. This is why some countries legalize this form of gambling. Bingo is widely accepted in some countries like the Philippines, that it can be played in the shopping malls.
Apparently, bingo is not only used as a means to generate funds, but also to teach kids. The numbers in the bingo cards are replaced by pictures, letters, or any other things that the teacher wants to teach their students. Bingo has been proven effective in teaching the kids because it is fun to do.
Criticism
Of course, like other forms of gambling, bingo has not escaped the eyes of critics. For the detractors of gambling, gambling in general is still a sin, even if you legalize gambling, eve if it helps build houses or trains or orphanage. This is why they are surprised by churches and other organizations which use bingo for fund-raising.
This form of gambling has not also escaped the online world of gambling. Online bingo is becoming more common today than ever before.
